Columbus County Commission approves $700K for school debt
COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Columbus County Schools and Whiteville City Schools are getting a big chunk of change from the county.
Last night, county commissioners approved a request from Columbus County Schools for $500,000 to help with debt.
The county manager said because of a statute, county commissioners will also be giving $202,000 dollars to Whiteville City Schools.
The county manager said the money will not be used for capital expenses, only operating costs.
