Columbus County man arrested, accused of sexually assaulting a child

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Hallsboro man is currently being held without bond after deputies arrested him on multiple felony child sex offense charges stemming from incidents that allegedly happened over the past three years.

Parker Spaulding, 29, was taken into custody on Monday evening around 10:50 p.m.

According to arrest warrants, Spaulding is accused of committing multiple sexual offenses against a child on several occasions over a period of years. The alleged crimes happened multiple times since 2022.

Spaulding is facing several felony charges, including statutory rape of a child less than 15, statutory sex offense with a child less than 15, indecent liberties with a child, second-degree forcible rape, and second-degree forcible sexual offense.

He is currently being held in the Columbus County Detention Center without bond.

Spaulding is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday afternoon.
