Columbus County man arrested for alleged kidnapping and rape

WHITEVILLE, N.C. (WWAY) — The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division Special Victims Unit, in coordination with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation’s Criminal Apprehension Team, conducted a joint operation resulting in the arrest of Columbus County man Jablonski Moore.
Moore was taken into custody without incident following the execution of a search warrant at his residence located just outside of Whiteville.
The arrest comes after an investigation initiated on Mar. 23, 2026, after deputies responded to Columbus Regional Healthcare System in reference to a reported sexual assault that occurred on March 22, 2026.
Through the course of the investigation, detectives gathered evidence, conducted interviews, and worked closely with medical professionals, including a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner.
As a result of the investigation, Moore has been charged with the following offenses:
- First Degree Kidnapping
- Sexual Servitude of an Adult Victim
- Second Degree Forcible Rape
- Assault on a Female
Moore was placed in the Columbus County Detention Center, with no bond at this time.
