Columbus County man arrested for alleged sex offense

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A man is being held in custody without bond for an alleged sex offense that happened earlier this month.

Dexter Lemont Hope, 46, is accused of attacking and trying to sexually assault a woman.

The woman says on the night of March 7th, she had an argument with Hope that lead him to attack her.

She says she was able to free herself and get away from him.

The alleged crime wasn’t reported until the following week out of fear of Hope retaliating against her, the woman says.
