Columbus County man arrested for allegedly setting neighbor’s house on fire with owner inside

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Columbus County man has been arrested on charges of first degree arson.

Jerry Lynn Hewett is accused of setting fire to his neighbor’s house on Rose Lane.

The Sheriff’s Office says the homeowner was inside when Hewett lit the fire.

Hewett received no bond and is awaiting trial.
