Columbus County seeks to recognize veterans and service members through ‘Wall of Honor”
COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Community members are coming together on a lasting tribute to veterans and active service members. A Wall of Honor is doing just that along with the Veteran’s Memorial Park of America on Hwy. 701 about 3 miles south of Whiteville.
The wall features pictures of more than 1,100 service members in surrounding counties. Pictures currently on the wall have been gathered over the past eight years.
Organizers said they’re hoping to include more, which is why they’re asking family members of veterans and service members to send in photos.
“They deserve it more than anything and we want our future generations to be able to enjoy it and learn from our past,” Angela Norris said.
