Columbus County Sheriff’s Office arrest two people on drug charges

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two people on drug charges.

Following a traffic stop on West Columbus Street in Whiteville, officers say the driver of the vehicle attempted to pull into a driveway. Detectives say they observed narcotics in plain view inside the vehicle. The driver was quickly taken into custody.

A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded trafficking amounts of MDMA (ecstasy) and Oxycodone. In addition, amounts of other prescription pills, marijuana, and cocaine were seized.

Stefon Geathers was identified by detectives and charged with two counts of Trafficking in MDA/MDMA by possession and transportation, four counts of Trafficking in Opium or Heroin by Transportation and Possession, PWISD Schedule II Controlled Substance, PWISD Schedule VI Controlled Substance, Felony Possession of Cocaine, Felony Maintaining a Vehicle, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Open Container Violation, Driving While Impaired, and Resisting Public Officer. Geathers was given a $56,000.00 secured bond.

Deputies also conducted a traffic stop at Peacock and Reynolds Road in Tabor City. The driver of the vehicle, Emily Durland, consented to a search of the vehicle. The search yielded methamphetamine and heroin.

Durland was arrested and charged with Possession Schedule I Controlled Substance, Possession Schedule II Controlled Substance, Maintaining a Vehicle for a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Ms. Durland was given a $6,500.00 secured bond.
