Columbus County Sheriff’s sends off Whiteville football team

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office gave a sendoff to the Whiteville football team as they travel to the Eastern Regional Championship, their first time making it since 1987.
Sheriff Bill Rogers, along with other Sheriff’s Office personnel and with assistance from the Whiteville Police Department, stopped traffic to provide a special escort for the team to the county line.
Sheriff Rogers shared, “We are incredibly proud of these young men and their dedication to excellence both on and off the field. This team represents the heart and spirit of our county. We wish them the best of luck in tonight’s game—bring home the win, Wolfpack!”
The Wolfpack play against the Northeastern Eagles in Elizabeth City at 7:00 p.m. We will have highlights tonight at WWAY.
