Community invited to help welcome home 75 veterans from Honor Flight later this month

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The community is invited to welcome home 75 World War II, Korean and Vietnam War era Veterans later this month.
Honor Flight of the Cape Fear Area will take the veterans to Washington, DC for the day on April 20th.
They’ll return home around 9:15 that evening to the Wilmington International Airport.
“This is our third mission to Washington, DC with our local Veterans, after two hugely successful flights,” said HFCFA founder and president Ruth Ravitz Smith. “We are so grateful for the support of the local community, which makes it possible for us to honor the sacrifices made by our service
men and women. We encourage everyone to join us at the Welcome Home Celebration to provide these heroes with the “welcome home” that they deserve.”
Community members are asked to line the sidewalk outside the terminal, as well as along Airport Boulevard all the way to 23rd Street. Signs, banners, and flags are welcome.
