Community members meet to discuss future of Soda Pop District

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The City of Wilmington held their final workshop meeting regarding the future of the Soda Pop District located at 10th and Princess here in Wilmington.

Community members, developers and city officials met at DC Virgo Middle School Saturday for the second time to further discuss plans about what is to be done to the old Coca Cola building of Wilmington.

The goal of the workshop was to get an insight as to what the community wanted as far as the big picture of the redevelopment project going on.

The senior planner from the city of Wilmington, Phil Prete, hopes the community is able to get in their input and have a voice during this process.

“We’re hoping it shapes future development,” Prete said. “And lets people see it’s not just one building it’s the entire area that they can impact.”

Prete says that the ideas presented are concept ideas that will help with the planning process in the future for this area.
