Community partners hosting Thanksgiving grocery giveaway this weekend

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)– The MLK Center on 8th Street in Wilmington is gearing up to host its Second Annual Thanksgiving Grocery Giveaway this weekend. 

Community partners are coming together to help those struggling to make ends meet have everything they need for a Thanksgiving meal.   

Organizers say any and all members of the community are welcome to come and shop free of charge from 12 until 3 on Saturday November 18th. 

We’ll have everything from fresh produce, collards, kale, cabbage, all the way to non-perishable items like greens, beans, potatoes, rice…” said Fawn Rhodes, HHS Equity Coordinator. 

Organizers say all groceries will be first come, first served while supplies last.   

While some bags will be provided, they’re urging shoppers to bring their own bags to put groceries in.
