Community partners host first Inclusive Bike Rodeo
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Community partners collaborated for an Inclusive Bike Rodeo on Sunday.
The event was held in Olsen Park by Access of Wilmington, Three Wheel Therapy, and the City of Wilmington.
The event gives kids and adults alike the chance to try adaptive bikes for free, along with giveaways and a bike safety course. Adaptive bikes are designed to enable biking for people of all ages and abilities. This is the first event of its kind in Wilmington.
Access Program Director Casie O’Rourke said the event is the perfect way for folks to test out an adaptive bike, which are often much more expensive than traditional bikes.
“It was kind of the perfect storm of collaboration and not all trying to do this separately but doing it together to hopefully bring more people out and learn about bike safety and adaptive bikes and just building that sense of community,” she said.
If you missed the event, don’t worry. For those looking to try out an adaptive bike, Three Wheel Therapy provides free rides year-round. To learn more about their services, you can visit their Facebook.
