Concert wristband sales could save a life
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The 1980s took over the Downtown Sundown Concert Series Friday night with tribute band, The Breakfast Club.
Every week portions of the proceeds from the concert goes to a local charity. This week’s charity fit in well with the 1980’s theme.
Pretty in Pink is an organization that helps breast cancer victims get the treatments they need at no cost. Program manager, Joy Wade, said the money raised at the concert could go a long way for someone in need.
“A thousand dollars is our cost for a surgery, and we have a New Hanover County woman right now that needs that surgery,” Wade said. “It’s gonna cost $1,000. So, we need at least a thousand people to come down here, get a wristband, dollar a piece, and she will get her surgery and it will be fully paid for.”
