Confetti at Noon: Families celebrate the New Year early at Wilmington Children’s Museum
NEW HANOVER COUNTY (WWAY) — Dozens of families gathered Wednesday at The Children’s Museum of Wilmington for its annual New Year’s Noon celebration.
The event offers an opportunity for kids to ring in the new year early, and for parents to avoid late bedtimes.
The event featured hands-on activities for kids and new year coloring sheets.
The entire museum was decked out for New Year’s Eve.
Children got to enjoy a “toast” with juice, complete with a countdown and confetti right at noon.
Anna Harris is the museum’s program coordinator.
She says this event always attracts a large crowd, bringing in familiar and new faces.
“It’s good to see our regular people come in and as well as first time visitors; we get a good amount of those too that show up, and they get to experience a special event on their first visit which is really cool too,” said Harris.
This year’s event was sold out.
Due to its popularity, museum staff are considering making the event bigger next year to accommodate even more people.
