Conscience Fair connects volunteers with non-profits
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Saturday at Cape Fear Community College, more than 50 non-profits from the area took part in a Conscience Fair to help get people involved in their community.
This is the 10th year that the StarNews has held this fair to help connect local non-profits to volunteers looking to get involved.
There was a variety of different organizations represented such as Habitat for Humanity, Pawsitive Partners and many more.
Organizers say that it’s really great to see so many people at the event to help the area.
“We’ve got so many non-profits in the Cape Fear region that are doing just wonderful work, but they need help from volunteers in the community,” Si Cantwell, the Community Editor from the StarNews, said. “Meanwhile you’ve got a lot of people, like college students looking to polish their applications and retirees or newcomers that just moved here, and it’s a way for them to connect. So we’re just bringing people together.”
Cantwell says that he looks forward to next year when the fair will be even bigger and better.
