Construction on Mulberry Park expansion in Shallotte has started
SHALLOTTE, NC (WWAY) — Construction is underway for the expansion of Mulberry Park in Shallotte.
The work is taking place across from Mulberry Park on Mulberry Street.
Access to the park from Mulberry Street will be closed during some parts of the construction.
Some of the new amenities coming include a playground and kayak launch on the Shallotte River.
Town manager Mimi Gaither and events & outreach coordinator Megan Bellamy said expansions to the park will be great for residents and visitors.
“I mean, I think its great. Any time you increase amenities for your citizens, that’s a wonderful thing. And do it without raising any taxes, that’s even more of a benefit,” Gaither said.
“And Shallotte is on the river, so we are building facilities that are going to attract people for kayak launches and water activities,” Bellamy said.
During construction, all specialty markets hosted by the town will be held at the riverwalk.
All the improvements should be completed by March 2025.
