Construction to begin on Ocean Gate Plaza intersection improvements

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — Construction is set to begin at the end of month on intersection improvements at Ocean Gate Plaza and New Pointe Boulevard.
The Town of Leland says construction will start at January 27 in hopes improve safety and connectivity within the commercial area.
Ocean Gate Plaza will be closed from US Highway 17 to the roundabout for about four months, including the turn lanes on the highway.
Barricades and detour signs will be in place and drivers are asked to use alternate routes.
The project includes construction of a teardrop roundabout, new sidewalks, pedestrian crosswalks, updated pavement markings, and street signage. Leland says the improvements are designed to enhance safety and efficiency for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists.
“These improvements are an important investment for our growing community,” said Mayor Brenda Bozeman. “By enhancing safety and connectivity in this area, we are creating a more welcoming and accessible environment for residents, visitors, and local businesses.”
