Continuing coverage: Wilmington historic home takes action in response to proposed sidewalks

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The owners of a historic home in Wilmington are taking action after learning they’re at risk of losing part of their property so the city can install sidewalks.

For 25 years, John Voet and his wife have lived at the Page-Ward House. It was built in 1911 on Wrightsville Avenue.

Recently the Voets’ were served a letter of condemnation for part of the property so it could be appropriated for the Wrightsville Avenue Sidewalk Project.

We learned Monday the Voets’ filed an injunction and have been granted a temporary restraining order against the city.

We will continue to keep you updated as more details are made available.
