Could take days to get water back on in SE Brunswick County
BOLIVIA, NC (NEWS RELEASE) – Damage to several water mains serving the southeastern part of Brunswick County is more extensive than originally thought, and it will likely take several days before repairs can be completed and water service fully restored to the southeastern part of Brunswick County.
Water resources will be provided to those affected. As soon as exact locations and times are confirmed, they will be announced at www.brunswickcountync.gov, social media, to the news media, and sent through email subscription and CodeRED emergency notification. A system pressure advisory was initially issued on Sept. 16 for water consumers of Brunswick County Public Utilities located along George II Highway, all of Boiling Spring Lakes, all of St. James, all of the Southport area, all of the Caswell Beach area, Oak Island, and all of the Long Beach Road, due to multiple water main breaks caused by Hurricane Florence and the subsequent flooding. As staff began working to repair the breaks, they discovered the full extent of the damage and the repairs needed.
