Court date set for South Columbus kicker in deadly crash
TABOR CITY, NC (WWAY) — Alfonso Pantaleon, the kicker for South Columbus High School, is set to appear in court February 28th for charges of misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and passing in a no passing zone.
Troopers say on December 5th, Pantaleon was driving west on 701 when he illegally passed another driver.
He then ran off the road and swerved back into oncoming traffic and hit another car.
That driver, Debra Nobles Walters, died.
Three others people got hurt.
Pantaleon went to the hospital, he has since been released.
