Crews extinguish fire at Invista Plant Monday morning


NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — In New Hanover County, crews put out a fire that sparked at the Invista plant this morning.

Deputy Chief Frank Meyer with New Hanover County fire and rescue said the fire was reported around 10:15 a.m. monday at the plant on U.S. 421 north.

Meyer said the fire was in a section of the plant that is not in use and is currently being demolished. Meyer said crews put it out before 11:30 a.m.

He said the fire did not involve any chemicals and no injuries were reported.
