Crews respond to fire at vacant home in Pender County

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) –Firefighters responding to a reported brush fire instead found a fire at a single-story home, according to officials.

Engine 29 was dispatched to the call and arrived to find the home on fire. Pender EMS & Fire said no one was inside the home, which was determined to be vacant.

Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including Engine 21, Tanker 21, New Hanover County Fire Rescue Engine 12, the Atkinson Volunteer Fire Department and the Pender County Fire Marshal’s Office.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
