ELIZABETHTOWN, NC (WWAY) — Crews responded to an overnight fire in Bladen County.

The Clarkton Fire Department and a number of other crews responded just after 7 p.m. Sunday night.

Fire crews on scene dealt with an attic fire that spread throughout the home.

It happened in the 300 Block of Bridgers Road, which is about 3 miles south of Clarkton.

Due to water supply issues in the area, multiple tankers were used to relay water to the scene.

Several stations remained on scene as of late Monday morning.

According to an official, the fire rekindled again around 3 a.m. and then again just before 9 a.m.

Five people inside the home were able to get out safely, but the home is a total loss.

The Red Cross is assisting the family.

One firefighter was injured during the second rekindling. They’ve been treated and released.
