Crews suspend search for missing swimmer in Kure Beach

KURE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Rescue efforts are suspended after reports of a missing swimmer off the shore of Kure Beach.

New Hanover County Dispatchers confirm getting a call reporting a person who entered the water around 5:30 p.m. last night, but was never spotted leaving the water.

The call came in around 7:00 p.m.

Emergency crews searched near the Seven Seas Inn at 130 N Fort Fisher Blvd. last night, but called the search off as it got darker.

A search may resume this morning. WWAY will keep you updated as more information becomes available.
