Crowds continue to gather for Myrtle Beach bike week despite COVID-19 concerns
MURRELLS INLET, S.C. (WPDE) – People continue to gather for bike week in Myrtle Beach and the coronavirus pandemic does not seem to affect how many bikers came out to the 2020 Myrtle Beach Bike Week Spring Rally.
In a recent Facebook live from Suck, Bang, Blow, people can be seen hanging out in close proximity and listening to music while some do not wear masks.
Katherine Margo Brown was shocked to see the number of people hanging out Saturday night at SBB.
“As a public health major from CCU and a COVID-19 Contact Tracer for the State of SC DHEC, this is the reason our state has become third in the world for COVID-19 cases,” Brown said. “You can see why contact tracers and public health officials are concerned and frustrated with our state and the lack of compliance from South Carolinians. I understand the need to have some freedom and enjoy the summer but we’ve taken it too far.”
After reaching out to SBB for their thoughts on the videos, they responded with “no comment.”
