Cruz not standing for Rubio, Trump calling him a liar

AIKEN, SC (AP) – Texas Sen. Ted Cruz is comparing Republican presidential rivals Marco Rubio and Donald Trump to liberal Democrats, saying their policies on immigration and other issues put them more in line with Hillary Clinton than the GOP.

Cruz has responded Monday after Rubio and Trump called him a liar in Saturday’s debate. Cruz says the race should not “just be about insults and personal attacks.”

He says Rubio and Trump were “screaming liar, liar” during the debate, and that does not make them presidential.

Cruz is also putting a greater emphasis on the importance of electing a president who will appoint conservative justices to the U.S. Supreme Court following the death of Antonin Scalia. Cruz says he is making the election a referendum on the Supreme Court.
