CSX to work on tracks at entrance to Love Grove

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — People who live in the Love Grove neighborhood will have to use a temporary access road starting tomorrow.

That’s when CSX Railroad will be making some repairs to the railroad tracks at King Street, which is the primary access into the Love Grove neighborhood.

The City of Wilmington says before work on the tracks crossing King Street begins, CSX will ready the nearby temporary road access that was put into place during a trail derailment that occurred there in 2013.  Access in and out of the neighborhood is expected to remain open at all times.

In 2014, a second access into the Love Grove neighborhood was one of 38 projects identified in a transportation bond referendum approved by Wilmington voters.

This project will add a second access to the neighborhood by connecting One Tree Hill Way to Stanley Street and installing a bridge over Burnt Mill Creek.

Construction on the $5 million bridge began last month and work is expected to be completed early next year.
