CUE Center celebrates 31 years with family fun day

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Community United Effort center for Missing Persons will mark its 31st year of service with a family-friendly celebration on Saturday, September 20.

According to a news release, the nonprofit, founded in Wilmington in 1994, has dedicated more than three decades to helping families of the missing nationwide. CUE has assisted in more than 13,000 missing persons cases with trained search personnel, victim support services, K9 teams, and community outreach.

Founder Monica Caison says the event helps raise awareness and funds to continue their mission. “Each year many people are found, but as fast as one case is closed another is opened; awareness plays a key role to all unsolved cases,” she said.

The 31st anniversary celebration will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at 6769 Market Street in Wilmington.

The event will feature:

  • Pig pickin’ and chicken plates

  • Teen and children’s inflatable rides

  • Craft vendors

  • Classic car displays (Sun Coast Cruisers Car Club and Friends)

  • Community information tables

  • Raffles and more
