Curtains close on the Cucalorus Film Festival’s 29th year

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — After 4 days, one of the coolest film festivals in the world has come to an end.

The Cucalorus Film Festival wrapped up its 29th year on Sunday, November 19th.

Around 150 films were shown in total over the course of the event, with films being shown at both Thalian Hall and Jengo’s Playhouse.

Kerry Skiles is a festival staff member who said it’s great to see the feedback and support the festival has gotten over the years.

“It’s been a great response,” Skiles said. “We’ve got a lot of out-of-town people, a lot of filmmakers obviously and a lot of local Wilmington people enjoying it. It’s the 29th year so it’s an exciting time. And we have a lot of new films and a lot of high-profile people came in.”

Skiles adds that she can’t wait to see what’s in store for the festival’s 30th anniversary next year.
