Cyclist killed in Brunswick County accident
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — According to Trooper Shaw with State Highway Patrol, at 9:42 last night a bicyclist was hit by an SUV while heading south on Mt. Pisgah Road in Brunswick County.
Highway Patrol said that the driver of the SUV was unable to see the cyclist as there were no lights or reflective material on the bike and the cyclist was wearing dark clothing.
The cyclist was transported to the hospital, but Highway Patrol says they were pronounced dead on the way there.
Highway Patrol said the cyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The situation is still under investigation. There is no word yet on whether there will be any charges.
