DA: Barbershop shooting justified
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — District Attorney Ben David said in a news release no charges will be filed in the deadly barbershop shooting Thursday.
David said the incident in front of the business in the 800-block of Castle Street on April 23 was self-defense.
Joshua Simpson, 34, died in the shooting.
“Our office was contacted within minutes of the incident, and a senior prosecutor was present on the scene with detectives,” David said. “WPD has continued to update our office with the results of
witness interviews and the forensic and physical evidence that was present at the scene. All of this information supports our joint decision that no charges will be filled in this case.”
The news release did not go into further details about the incidents prior to the shooting or the shooter.
