Rep. David Rouzer comments on shooting during Congressional baseball practice

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Rep. David Rouzer is in Washington, DC, today, but he was not at a baseball field in Virginia where another Congressman was shot this morning.

A law enforcement official says the shooting in Virginia that injured Rep. Steve Scalise and several others is being investigated as a criminal act rather than an act of terrorism.

Rep. Rouzer was not available for comment this morning, but he released this statement about the shooting:

“Steve Scalise is one of the finest individuals I know,” Rouzer said. “My thoughts and prayers are with him, his family and all the other victims, including the Capitol Police, who are true and courageous professionals who put their lives on the line every day.”
