David’s Deli and Restaurant to close in April after more than 44 years

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — A popular Wrightsville Beach restaurant will soon be closing its doors.

David’s Deli and Restaurant is located on Eastwood Drive.

David Shreiner opened the deli back in 1981 and he died in 2012.

For more than 30 years, the restaurant served lunch and dinner.

But about 10 years ago, they started serving only breakfast and lunch.

Doug Efting owns the restaurant.

He said the pandemic hurt them financially and that’s one reason why they’re closing.

Dennis Fullerton is a regular at the restaurant and he said it’s sad knowing the deli will be closing soon.

“It’s kind of sad in one respect,” Efting said. “I kind of like to refer to David’s as an old-time diner because it’s got that neighborhood feel and everyone’s pretty much on a first-name basis and those types of establishments are vanishing.”

Efting said he expects the last day of business to be April 22nd.
