Deadline approaches for North Carolina farm giveaway
BENNETT, N.C. (AP) – The deadline is at hand for a contest that earns the winner a North Carolina farm.
The News & Observer of Raleigh reports entrants must write a 200-word essay and pay a $300 entry fee to try to win the nearly 13-acre (0.02 sq. miles) Bluebird Hill Farm in Chatham County. The topic for the essay is “Why we want to own and operate Bluebird Hill Farm.”
The winner gets the land, house, gardens, outbuildings and some equipment and furnishings, estimated at $450,000.
Entries must be postmarked no later than June 1 and arrive at the Siler City post office by June 5. Any entry after that will be returned, but if farm owner Norma Burns extends the deadline, she will post it on the farm’s Facebook page.
