Death investigation underway in Southport

SOUTHPORT, NC (WWAY) — Police are investigating after a person died Tuesday morning in Southport.

Police say they received a call around 8 a.m. about an unresponsive person near the intersection of W. Leonard Street and Burrington Avenue.

The person died at the scene, according to police.

Police do not suspect foul play.

The investigation is ongoing.
