Defending 3-A state champs shutout Hoggard

HAMPSTEAD, NC (WWAY) — A handful of Major League Baseball scouts watched Topsail senior Clark Cota dominate the Hoggard Vikings on Tuesday night in Hampstead. Topsail shutout Hoggard 10-0 in a game that was shortened to five innings. Cota pitched four solid innings in the Mideastern Conference opener. Cota, a future UNCW Seahawk, gave up one hit and struck out eleven batters. Topsail senior Sam Luchansky pitched one inning of scoreless relief. Topsail is now 4-0 on the season. Hoggard drops to 1-2 on the season.
