Delicious food, unique finds at Azalea Festival Street Fair

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Azalea Festival wouldn't be complete without the street fair in downtown Wilmington. It started Friday night.

It's a free event with more than 330 arts and crafts booths, 40 food vendors, four stages, and a children's area, according to the Azalea Festival's website. You get all that with a view of the Cape Fear River. You can buy everything from sea glass and local honey to funnel cakes and kettle corn.

Some visitors said Friday night that they've been coming for decades, while others said this is their first time. They did have at least one thing in common, though. They said that they love it.

"We are here to have a good time and enjoy ourselves. So, come down here and join us and we'll just have a good-old time," said Richard Pagan, one of the multicultural event organizers and street fair enthusiast.

"This is my first time coming out here and, honestly, I really love it. This place is just, like, awesome. That's my only words for that, honestly," said Hannah Gambino, a first-time visitor.

Multiple stages also offer all kinds of family-friendly entertainment. Pagan said there's even a multicultural event.

The Azalea Festival Street Fair started Friday, and goes on Saturday and Sunday. You can find it on Water, Front, and Market Streets in downtown Wilmington.
