Delta Foundation of the Cape Fear celebrates African American Arts & Culture as part of NC Azalea Festival

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) — The Delta Foundation of the Cape Fear is set to celebrate African American Arts and Culture, with help from the North Carolina Central University Performing Arts Department.
The event is a tribute to the rich and diverse culture of African Americans in the Cape Fear Region.
The Delta Foundation of the Cape Fear is the non-profit entity of the Wilmington Alumnae Chapter of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
The event is co-sponsored by the Women’s Impact Network.
This celebration is part of the 2026 North Carolina Azalea Festival, and is set to take place on Saturday, April 11, beginning at 4 p.m. It will take place at Union Missionary Baptist Church located at 2711 Princess Place Drive.
The Wilmington Symphony Orchestra is the opening act, followed by various performers apart of the NCCU Performing Arts Department.
To honor the late “Madafo” Lloyd Wilson, a community educator and musician, drummers from Michael Hanson’s Pamoja! Drummers Troupe will greet guests as the arrive to the venue.
To showcase visual artists, works from Milton Gore Jr., and local high school students, will be on display.
