Democratic leaders speak out against Trump, support Clinton

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Democratic leaders from the Cape Fear used today as an opportunity to hold a press conference to share their support for Hillary Clinton and speak out against Donald Trump. Rep. Susie Hamilton, North Carolina Senate candidate Andrew Barnhill, and Wilmington County Commissioner candidate Julia Boseman were all in attendance.

“We represent a group of constituents who are very much in opposition to Mr. Trump’s attitude toward women, toward minorities, and toward the disabled community,” said representative Susi Hamilton. “We take issue with the message that Donald Trump and his campaign have sent regarding the Khan family and all of the gold star families in this country whose sons and daughters have fought and died for our country and our freedom.”

Barnhill said one of the goals of the group going today was to show the contrast between the economic goals of Clinton’s plan versus Trump’s plan. Barnhill said the democrats are hoping to bring people together, while the republican party seems set of breaking people apart.
