DeNay Harris to serve as Director of Elections for New Hanover County

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The North Carolina State Board of Elections approved the appointment of DeNay Harris to serve as Director of Elections for New Hanover County.

On Tuesday, the New Hanover County Board of Elections voted unanimously to recommend Harris for the position.

Harris will be the Director of Elections for the county effective February 3, 2026. She currently serves as Director of Elections and General Registrar for Charles City County, Virginia.

“I’m honored to serve New Hanover County voters and look forward to working alongside the Board and staff to continue delivering fair, secure, and accessible elections,” Harris said.

Her appointment comes as the New Hanover County Board of Elections prepares for the March 2026 primary elections.
