UPDATE: Deputies arrest suspect in Scotchman armed robbery

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Investigators with the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office have arrested a man accused of robbing a store clerk at knife-point.

Spokesman Jerry Brewer said Allan William Anderson III  was arrested earlier Thursday night by detectives. He is charged with armed robbery, 2nd degree kidnapping, and safecracking; all of which are felonies. Anderson is in jail under a more than $50,000 bond.

Deputies said the robbery happened at around 12:45 a.m. at the Scotchman on the 5300-block of Carolina Beach Road. They say Anderson walked into the store and approached the clerk with a beer, took out a knife and demanded money. Anderson took money and cigarettes.
