Deputies search for shooting suspect

SHALLOTTE, NC (WWAY) — Detectives with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit are searching for a man wanted in connection to a shooting another person.

Deontray Tremel Bryant, 27, of Plainview Drive in Ash, is wanted for assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.

According to the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred at Remedy’s Lounge in Shallotte around 1:30am this morning.

The victim, Nikko Hankins, was treated at Brunswick Novant Medical Center and released later into the custody of Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office for an earlier, unrelated charge.
