Deputies search for stabbing suspect

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — New Hanover County Sheriff’s deputies are searching for a stabbing suspect. Meanwhile the search has forced several schools into security measures.

NHSO spokesman Lt. Jerry Brewer says it happened this morning off of Cathay Road south of Monkey Junction. Brewer said the male victim knows his attacker and let him in his home after the suspect asked to use the bathroom. That’s when the suspect stabbed the victim in the arm and left the scene.

The suspect is described as a bald, white male in his 30s.

The search led to a shelter in place order at Ashley High School, Murray Middle School and Anderson Elementary, Brewer said. Those have now been lifted.
