Deputies searching teen missing since leaving jail

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Deputies with the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office are looking for a missing teen who ran off after leaving jail.

Deputies say James Ashley Holleman was last seen May 26 at the intersection of Blue Clay Road and Juvenile Center Road, which is near the New Hanover County Jail. He is described as a 16-year-old male, 6 feet tall and 180 pounds.

Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. Jerry Brewer says Holleman had been arrested May 18 for resist/obstruct/delay after he ran from deputies who were searching for him after he’d been reported missing. Brewer says on May 26 Holleman was released to DSS and was in a car with DSS workers, who were giving him a ride home from jail. Brewer says when the car stopped at Blue Clay and Juvenile Center, Holleman jumped out of the car and ran off and has not been seen since.

If anyone has any information on Holleman’s location please contact the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office at (910) 798-4162.
