Deputies: Stolen construction equipment found dumped in river near Castle Hayne
CASTLE HAYNE, NC (WWAY) — Authorities are investigating after stolen construction equipment was found submerged in the Northeast Cape Fear River near Castle Hayne on Wednesday, according to the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office.
The NHSO says a company reported early Wednesday that equipment had been stolen. The company has been identified as Ansco & Associates, located just a couple of miles from the Castle Hayne boat ramp.
A sheriff’s office spokesman says two trucks, two utility trailers, and two mini excavators were stolen and dumped in the river.
As of 11:00 p.m. Wednesday, one truck, trailer, and mini excavator had been recovered. Crews were still working to recover the rest of the equipment.
No suspects have been identified. The investigation is ongoing.
