Deputy Constable shot 6 times in Houston
A deputy constable was rushed to a hospital after being shot six times outside a convenience store in Houston early this morning, according to authorities.
Pamela Greenwood, a spokeswoman for the Harris County precinct seven constable’s office, confirmed to ABC News that the deputy constable was shot in an “ambush-style” attack between midnight and 12:15 a.m.
The constable’s condition is “uncertain” after being in surgery for more than 3 hours to remove a bullet lodged in his abdomen and another bullet near his heart, Greenwood said.
Police said the deputy was performing a routine traffic stop with a deputy-in-training when the suspect, not related to the prior traffic stop, approached him from behind and ambushed him.
A person matching the description of the suspect in the shooting is being questioned by investigators. The person hasn’t been arrested or charged but also said authorities aren’t currently searching for anyone else in the shooting.
