DEQ secretary makes case for additional GenX funding
RALEIGH, NC (StarNews) — Regulators will likely make public within a week the first batch of air monitoring results from Chemours’ Fayetteville Works emissions, a N.C. Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) official told legislators on Thursday.
Sheila Holman, DEQ’s assistant secretary for the environment, also told the House’s Select Committee on N.C. River Quality that Chemours told DEQ it was installing a thermal oxidizer unit to capture and destroy GenX and other perfluorinated compounds in response to a Feb. 12 notice of violation.
