Diesel fuel spill in Myrtle Grove Sound

MYRTLE GROVE SOUND, NC (WWAY) — Diesel fuel spilled into Myrtle Grove Sound Friday morning inside Carolina Beach town limits.

During the process of removing a boat from the harbor, an undetermined amount of diesel fuel was released into the Sound.

Coast guard and local responders are investigating the issue to finalize a determination of responsibility for the spill.

The remaining diesel in the sound is unrecoverable and will dissipate over time.
