Dozens of animal lovers attend 11th Annual Monty’s Home Pet Expo
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Pet lovers took over the Port City this weekend as dozens of people attended the 11th Annual Monty’s Home Pet Expo Sunday.
The pet expo featured more than 50 vendors who were all pet related. From veterinarians to dog trainers, pet stores and more.
This is the biggest fundrasier of the year for Monty’s Home. The organization takes dogs from shelters into prisons to train with inmates for seven weeks before being put up for adoption. This is just one of the several programs they have.
“Every dog is in a home. It’s a one-hundred percent adoption rate because people like to do the right thing in rescue. They’re just a little afraid, you know. What’s this dogs history? It doesn’t matter with our dogs. We start over from scratch, we build a bond, we teach them to trust humans again and to you know just be good family pets,” Monty’s Home Founder Barbara Raab said.
There was a silent auction at the pet expo and all the money raised goes to help the dogs.
