Dozens show up to test out new skate park in Ogden
OGDEN, NC (WWAY) — There were a lot of happy people this weekend as the Ogden Skatepark has officially opened.
It was a packed house as soon as the park opened early Saturday morning.
Catching air, riding rail, or take the big drop in the bowl, kids and adults of all ages were there to test out what it had to offer.
The park stretches more than 10,000 square feet and the skate bowl is the largest Tony Hawk design on the east coast.
Skateboarder Caleb Neal said he is glad that it’s finally open.
“I’ve been waiting for this park to open since Christmas,” Neal said. “I’m really excited about it. It’s going to be so much fun when there is less people here.”
There is some buzz going around that Tony Hawk himself may stop by the area later this year.
Kids under 13 must be accompanied by an adult. Pads and helmet are required to be worn. Skate park hours are from 8 a.m. to sunset every day.
